The ex-wife of eccentric Aussie businessman Geoffrey Edelsten has released a statement following his death.
“It is of great sadness to hear of the passing of Dr Geoffrey Edelsten today,” her spokesperson said in a statement, as per the Daily Mail. “On behalf of Ms Brynne Edelsten, we send our deepest and sincerest condolences. Brynne and Geoffrey enjoyed some truly beautiful moments, including their wedding in 2009.”
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Melbourne’s Crown Casino just nine months after they met on a blind date in Las Vegas.
At the time, Edelsten — the former owner of the Sydney Swans AFL club — was 67 and Brynne was a 26-year-old fitness instructor from California.
Brynne soon moved to Australia and the flamboyant couple featured heavily on the social circuit in Melbourne, attending events from the Logies to the Melbourne Cup. But sadly, their union would end in early 2014.

“While their marriage ended after five years together, Brynne remains grateful for the good times the couple shared and is deeply saddened and shocked to hear the news of his passing,” the statement concluded.
Of their split at the time, Edelsten said he was “very, very sad” and it was “the last thing I wanted”.
Edelsten, a former medical entrepreneur, was also married to former-model-turned-nurse Leanne Nesbitt from 1984 to 1988. She was 20 at the time and he was 41.
In 2015, months after he finalised his divorce from Brynne, Edelsten married American model Gabi Grecko, then 24. They were married in a low-key ceremony held at a registry in Melbourne’s Chinatown.
Their union was a tumultuous one, splitting and reconciling numerous times before separating for good in 2019.
