Josh Duggar has been arrested and taken into custody, just days after his wife Anna Duggan, announced they are expecting their seventh child.
The 19 Kids and Counting alum is currently being held without bail after being taken into custody in Arkansas on April 29 and placed on a federal hold at the Washington County jail.
According to reports, the reality star was arrested in connection to the used car dealership he owned in Arkansas, although it’s unclear what charges he’s facing.
TMZ reported in November 2019 that Homeland Security agents had raided the 33-year-old’s office at an Arkansas car dealership in connection to a federal probe.
Duggar is the eldest child of the Duggar family, who rose to fame through their reality show 19 Kids and Counting, which ran for 10 seasons. The show was cancelled in 2015 after an expunged police report from 2006 was unearthed, with allegations that Duggar had molested multiple underage girls —including two of his sisters — when he was a teenager, subsequently forcing the show off the air.
He issued an apology and was never charged.
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” he said in a statement to People at the time.
“I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counselling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”
Duggar has admitted to cheating on his wife of 12 years in the past, later entering into a faith-based rehab program, as well as attending marriage counselling.
The Duggan family are yet to comment on his arrest.
