The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast was asked a series of questions about Erika Jayne following the latest episode of the show on Wednesday night.

After fans watched as Erika suffered a breakdown over a comment Garcelle Beauvais made about her estranged husband Thomas Girardi‘s efforts to contact her, the ladies of the show were asked for their thoughts about Erika not having a debit card before reacting to their castmate’s outburst of emotions.

“‘What the f-ck?’ That’s what I thought… like, ‘What? Where do you get money? Where do you get money to pay the valet?’” Garcelle admitted of learning Erika had no debit card on the August 4 episode of the RHOBH: After Show.

Although Kathy Hilton noted that she too has “never had one,” Kyle Richards said that because Erika has a career of her own, she was caught off-guard by the news.

“When I look at Erika, and she has her own separate career, I would never have imagined that she would not have a debit card and that she hands over whatever she… I think it says a lot about her relationship with Tom and that he controlled everything and that she was very much the little wife at home,” Kyle said. “I don’t mean it in a demeaning way but as much as we see her as this strong, powerful, empowered woman who gets up on stage and does her thing, it was just, completely opposite of what we thought.”

Sutton Stracke was also surprised to learn Erika had no debit card.

“When I was married I had my own checking account. It was mine, in my name. I’m sorry, in your life, you’ve never had an ATM card? I didn’t understand that,” Sutton admitted.

During another segment of the RHOBH: After Show, Kathy and Kyle explained their initial reactions to learning Thomas was calling Erika.

“I thought that maybe he still really loves her and he misses her,” Kathy noted.

“My first thought was, he cares about her and he’s calling her. I wouldn’t have thought that much of it until Erika got upset, honestly,” Kyle shared.

While Lisa Rinna and Erika have since suggested that there was far more to the story than the edited version RHOBH viewers watched, including a screaming match between Erika and the producers, Sutton compared Erika’s reaction to Garcelle’s comment about Thomas to a “bomb.”

“Garcelle said it in a very open-table way. Like, ‘Do you mind if I share?’ I don’t even think [Garcelle] got the question out,” Sutton recalled. “I just felt bad for everybody. I felt bad for [Erika]. I felt badly for Garcelle. It was [a] really nasty, dark moment for all of us.”

“I don’t know if I did [get the question out] or not,” Garcelle replied. “But I remember the reaction was strong.”

“She really broke down,” Dorit agreed.

Looking back, Dorit said she felt as if she had missed something during the intense moment.

“I remember sitting there thinking, ‘Did I miss something?’ And I think those of us that hadn’t been privy to this conversation were also a little bit like, ‘Why? What’s happened?’” she explained.

Dorit also said that when it came to what prompted Erika’s meltdown, her emotions had likely been building up for some time.

“Whatever was going on with Erika emotionally, it was too much and it all came pouring out. Erika’s not one of those that becomes that unhinged so quickly and breaks down like that. She’s trying to navigate the situation and still show up and still hold it together, really. And in that moment, she just couldn’t hold it together anymore,” Dorit suspected.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
