In 2014, it was Field’s turn to be commemorated in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Surrounded by her family and good friends, including actress Jane Fonda and actor Beau Bridges, Field was moved beyond words.
“Yes, so it’s true — 50 years ago this year, I began this journey. I was 17 years old, didn’t have an agent, wasn’t a member of the Screen Actors’ Guild, and all of a sudden, I was the star of a television series,” she said at the ceremony.
“To have a long-term career, you have to want what you want, more than you think you’re capable of wanting. You have to constantly step aside of anything having to do with ego, and entitlement, and just head to the work wherever it might be. I’ve ridden the highs, and tried to learn from the lows,” she continued.
“I’ve worked my whole life and feel the many miles I have accumulated in this saddle, and I can tell you right here and right now I have never, in this last 50 years, never, not once, considered changing my mind.”
