Singer Olly Murs shares update from hospital after being rushed to surgery following horrific onstage accident

British singer Olly Murs has given fans an update from hospital after being rushed into surgery following a horrific onstage accident.

In an Instagram video posted today, the 37-year-old explained he required medical attention after he jumped up during a performance in the UK last week and a fragment of bone somehow lodged itself in the back of his knee.

“It has been a mad 72 hours since the gig getting to this point,” he began in the clip. “Basically after my second song, a fragment of bone that was in my knee managed, after I jumped, to lodge itself on the back of my knee which basically shut my leg down.”

Murs soldiered on during the Newmarket Nights gig and managed to finish his set, but he recalled “just limping the whole time”.

“It’s been a mad 72 hours,” he added, before apologising to fans for “looking like a bag of s–t” in his video. “I honestly thought the worst, I thought I might have done my knee again. I thought I had ruptured my ACL, being honest. This is great news, it really it positive. I’m going to stay positive and rest up for the next few days. Lots of love, everyone.”

In a follow-up Instagram Story, the ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ singer also shared a grisly photo of the bones that were lodged in his knee, which doctors placed in a clear plastic tube for him.

“Picture of the bones lodged in my knee,” he wrote in the caption. “What are the chances?!”
