Sonja Morgan & Luann Get Spinoff! Sonja Talks RHONY Future

REPORT: Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan Sign Deal to Appear in Simple Life-Style Series as Sonja Addresses Future on RHONY

Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan have reportedly signed a deal to appear in an upcoming reality show similar to Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie‘s Simple Life.

According to a new report, the Real Housewives of New York City alums are expected to begin filming the new series in July in Middle America, where they’ll be seen rubbing elbows with “the regular folk” and enjoying visits from yet-to-be-named celebrity guests.

“Luann and Sonja of course will be their fabulous selves and each episode will have them interacting with the locals,” an insider told Page Six on June 6. “They don’t know the locations yet, but it’s going to be somewhere like Kansas or Nebraska, not some hipster Southern town. [Executives] have been holding the locations even from the gals until the last minute.”

According to the report, the new show, which will be the only spinoff of RHONY that doesn’t feature Bethenny Frankel as the lead, is technically in development, but it’s expected to be green-lit soon as the paperwork has already been signed.

The report also noted that the not-yet-named series will feature about 10 episodes and air on Bravo or Peacock.

In other RHONY news, Sonja recently addressed her future with the franchise.

“Wherever I go, people are wondering when is RHONY coming back?” she revealed to Showbiz Cheat Sheet earlier this month. “Me too! I wanna get back to it because I haven’t been working since last summer on the show. So hang in there. Good news to come.”

“There’s too many of us very talented girls from Real Housewives of New York … You know, 13 seasons. I’ve been on the show for 12 years. I came [on the show] in season 3. The other girls have been doing it longer. Ramona and Luann and … Just trust they’re not going to let intellectual property like that go by bye-bye,” she continued.

If Sonja is cast on the RHONY: Legacy, which will follow former cast members of RHONY as the original series is completely recast, she said fans will see her back in her infamous $10.75 million Upper East Side townhouse as her renters’ lease has expired.

“When I start filming again, I’m gonna be in the house again!” she laughed. “People are gonna be like, ‘What?’”

Sonja and her clothing line may also be seen back at Century 21, which reopened in May after previously filing for bankruptcy.

“If they come back and I can come back with them, it’s good for the community. Everyone loved the store and I’d love to film with them again,” she said.

In March, during an interview with Us Weekly, Luann said she’d love to participate in the upcoming Legacy series and noted that her dream cast would include Jill Zarin, Dorinda Medley, and Kelly Bensimon.

“If they’ll have me back, I’m totally on board, because I think it’s a lot of fun to be back with all our old friends,” she said at the time.
