Tawny Kitaen has passed away

Tawny Kitaen has passed away at 59. The sad news was announced by Tawny’s daughters.

“We are heartbroken and saddened to announce the death of our mom. We just want to say thank you for all of you, her fans and her friends, for always showing her such support and love. You gave her life everyday. We miss her and love her and we know her legacy will live on forever.”

Tawny is well known for Bachelor Party and had a rollercoaster of a personal life.

Julie Kitaen grew up in San Diego, California and she gave herself the nickname Tawny, she had taken part in beauty pageants and starting modelling in the early 1980s. She saw Peter Frampton in concert, and managed to get back stage passes, and met Peter’s GF, Penny, gave her the all access treatment. In 1983 she got a small role a TV movie Malibu, which gave her the acting bug.

She had the main lead in the movie The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak, better known as Gwendoline.

She was well known as the album cover girl for Ratt, as well as starring in two videos for Whitesnake, Is This Love and Here I Go Again.

In her personal life, she married Whitesnake’s lead singer, David Coverdale, in 1989 and it only lasted 2 years. She then married professional baseball player Chuck Finley and had 2 daughters, Wynter and Raine. The end of that marriage was controversial, Chuck claimed she had repeated kicked him in the face with high heels on and she was charged with domestic abuse. The charges were later dropped, but he filed for divorce three days later.

She had an affair with OJ Simpson and had issues with substance abuse, including arrests for drug possession and DUIs.

Most of us will remember the good times though. RIP Tawny.
