It’s official, Outer Banks season 2 has just wrapped filming, a whole year after we binge-watched the first season on Netflix. The teen suspense drama, which felt like a Riverdale-meets-The O.C-meets-Gossip Girl hybrid (really, can you think of a better combo?) encountered some pandemic delays, like the rest of the entertainment world, so we were psyched and somewhat jealous to see some behind-the-scenes snaps posted by some of the cast and crew on location in Barbados.
** WARNING: Season 1 spoiler alerts below**
Who is the cast of Outer Banks season 2?
Fans of the show will be pleased to know that most of the season 1 cast are making a return for season 2, following the group of pals, who call themselves the Pogues, and they work together to try and find hidden treasure connected to the disappearance of John B’s dad.
Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kie), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Austin North (Topper), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Deion Smith (Kelce), and Charles Esten (Ward Cameron) are set to return.
So far, there’s been one confirmed new face for Outer Banks season 2 – Actress Elizabeth Mitchell, who you might recognise from Lost and Once Upon a Time, will play Limbrey.
The main cast members have attracted hundreds of new fans on their social media accounts since the new series aired- and we can see why…
Chase Stokes as John B
Smouldering Chase Stokes will be returning as heartthrob John B in the upcoming season. At the end of season one, we saw John and Sarah taking a boat out during a wild storm in order to avoid the police. At one point we thought we lost them but they were rescued by a passing ship. Phew.
28-year-old Stokes auditioned for Outer Banks in 2019, and originally turned down the offer, but changed his mind after reading through the script further. In RL he’s dating co-star Madelyn Cline.
Sarah Cameron returns as John B’s girlfriend in season 2. In the first season, Sarah was part of rival gang known as Kooks but her loyalty moved to the Pogues after falling for John B. The pair were last seen arriving in Barbados – which is where season 2 will pick up from.
IRL, Sarah is played by 23-year-old Madelyn Cline, who previously had small roles in Stranger Things and The Originals. She’s been dating co-star/ on-screen boyfriend Chase Stokes since they got together after season 1 filming.
Madison Bailey as Kiara
The daughter of a restaurant owner, Outer Banks character Kiara was initially associated with rival group the Kooks but soon became a prominent member of the Pogues. She looks out for her pals and is especially close with JJ and Pope.
22-year-old actress Madison Bailey plays Kiara, who previously had roles in Black Lightning and Impractical Jokers. The actress revealed she is pansexual on social media and said during an Instragram Live: “I feel like there’s no cons (to coming out), and I have very accepting friends, a very accepting family, an industry that’s very welcoming and very accepting. As far as pros go, being open and honest feels so good!”
Jonathan Daviss as Pope
Pope is considered the smartest of the Pogues and has a scholarship on the line — his ticket to a life outside of the Outer Banks. John B describes Pope as “the brains on the operation”. Although Pope is always up for an adventure with his friends, he is also weary of the consequences.
Played by 22-year-old actor Jonathan Daviss, who has previously starred in Age of Summer and Shattered Memories. Daviss has been sharing some BHS snaps from the cast in Barbados, telling fans, “I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this beautiful country.”
Rudy Pankow as JJ
JJ is the loose cannon in The Pogues. He had a difficult upbringing, is a brilliant surfer and often acts before thinking so can be a bit of a liability in the group. However, he’s brave and defends his friends, as we saw in season 1.
His character is played by Rudy Pankow, a 22-year-old American actor known for his roles in Deviant and Not Me.
Charles Esten as Ward Cameron
Ward is Sarah’s dad, a wealthy businessman who portrays himself as a good egg but there’s something more sinister underneath. He was secretly looking for the Royal Merchant to claim the gold for himself and is involved in some criminal activities on the island – including potentially being involved in John B’s dad’s disappearance…
He’s played by 55-year-old actor and musician Charles Esten, known for his roles in Nashville and Jessie.
Elizabeth Mitchell as Limbrey
A new character for Outer Banks season 2, Limbrey we know so far (according to Deadline) is “a long-time Charleston native; a compelling woman with a level of toxicity and menace underneath her seemingly courteous ways.”
She is played by 51-year-old actress Elizabeth Mitchell, best known for her Emmy-nominated performance as Dr. Juliet Carlson in Lost, as well as appearances in The Expanse and Dead Of Summer.
