THOR 4 Using The Same Technology As MANDO

Taika Waititi has taken some BTS photos of Thor: Love and Thunder, revealing they are using the StageCraft LED sets at ILM.

ILM had starting building a new StageCraft LED set in Fox Studios Australia last year, but it now appears to be fully up and working.

The set was used for Disney’s The Mandalorian. Instead of shooting on location, the set uses a massive TV (in its simplest form), the Unreal Engine and the cameras, as the camera moves, the ‘set’ moves (on the screen) and it looks amazing. If you haven’t seen it, here’s one of the videos, by ILM, about the making of Mando.

Taika Waititi was on the set of The Mandalorian as director of Chapter 8 and also starring as IG-11. He was obviously so impressed with the technology, he using it Thor 4.

Thor 4 sees Taika back directing Chris Hemsworth, alongside Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Tessa Thompson, Russell Crowe, Karen Gillian, Christian Bale plus more.

Hemsworth and Waititi had discussed returning for a sequel to Ragnarok. It was officially announced and titled in July 2019, with the pair attached alongside Thompson and Portman.

Portman agreed to return to the franchise, after not appearing in Ragnarok, when Waititi revealed plans to adapt the Mighty Thor comic books in which Portman’s character Jane Foster takes on the mantle and powers of Thor after suffering from cancer.

The Thor 4 movie is due out in May 2022.
