Usher has been at the centre of some controversy after it was alleged he tipped dancers at a Las Vegas strip club with fake money.
However, it’s now been revealed it was a big misunderstanding and the singer had honourable intentions.
“He and his crew converted thousands of real dollars to tip the girls dancing on the stage [and] left a generous tip for the staff!” a representative at the club said in a statement obtained by Page Six.
The fake money was in fact a promotional gimmick for his upcoming tour.
“Apparently someone in his team left some Usher dollars on the floor to promote his Vegas residency,” the rep added. “That is where it seems the confusion came in. But real actual cash was used for tips. We would love to host him again.”
The drama started swirling when a dancer posted photos of “Usher bucks” on Instagram, all with the artist’s face printed on the money.
She wrote in the post, “Ladies what would you do if you danced all night for usher and he threw this??”
It wasn’t long before the photos went viral.
Usher recently announced news of his Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace. It’s set to run between July and September.
In his recent Instagram activity, he’s wearing a bucket hat decorated with $1 bills and posing with a suitcase of money.
